Is Instagram Video the Next Great Company Recruitment Tool?
I’m seeing it all over my Twitter feed — Instagram has announced they will now be providing videos. Ironically enough the channel in which this is being promoted (Twitter) may lose some competitive edge if Vine becomes a thing of the past.
Cat videos, people videos, videos of people watching videos — wow, we are obsessed with moving images.
Another trend I have been noticing is recruiting videos. With technology literally at our fingertips all day long, it takes far too much time to read about company. No, people want to see it, hear it, and understand what really happens at a company.
Here is an example of three companies integrating video into their recruitment strategy. Don’t fall behind the trend by not offering an inside look of your company culture to prospective candidates.
Before you jump on the bandwagon and take to Instagram Video or YouTube, here is what I would suggest to include in your recruitment video:

  • Employee testimonials about why they chose to work for you
  • Unique benefits (ex: interesting company outings/parties)
  • Discussing cool projects going on in the workplace and how new employees can be a part of that
  • Images of the office space and other amenities
  • Show the impact your company can provide

If I could only make one recommendation, however, it would be to keep the video true to your company culture in order to attract the right type of candidates. The more genuine your recruitment video is, the better.
By offering a true visualization of what it’s like to work for your company you will be able to attract top talent and further promote your company’s brand.
Do you plan on using Instagram to post a recruitment video? What else would you recommend to add to a recruiting video?
